Tinnitus Management

Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears, is a symptoms experienced by perhaps as much as 20 million Americans.  Although commonly called "ringing in the ears", the sound quality might not be a ringing sound at all.  Some patients describe the noise as "chirping," "frying," "roaring," "crickets," "electricity," etc.  Sometimes this noise is so loud that it interferes with understanding speech.  Many times the sound is in both ears, whether simultaneously or not.  Frequently, this sound is a symptom of damage to either the inner ear or nerve for hearing.  Sometimes, this noise is so loud, so unremitting, and so distracting that it can interfere with normal activities or sleeping.  Tinnitus management or retraining can help to manage this noise so that one can return to normal function.

Vestibular Testing

Dizziness is an extremely common complaint, especially for patients over the age of 65.  Our physicians have a special interest in evaluating patients with this troubling and frustrating symptom.  Our physicians will carefully listen to your symptoms and perform the necessary physical evaluation to determine the cause of your dizziness.  If necessary, additional specialized testing, such as hearing tests or Electronystagmography (ENG), can be performed right in our office.  Please follow the link above to find out more about vestibular testing at MCENTA.

Videostroboscopy

Speech is a fundamental human trait.  Many professionals depend on their voice for their livelihood.  However, anyone with persistent hoarseness should have the larynx examined to determine the cause of their voice change and to improve the quality of their voice. Videostroboscopy is a specialized test for examining the function and motion of the vocal folds.  Please follow the link above to find out more about videostroboscopy at MCENTA.
